Confined blast loading of steel plates with and without pre-formed holes

چکیده

This paper presents experimental and numerical results for fully-clamped square steel plates to elucidate how the deformation failure are affected by presence of pre-formed holes, holes’ geometry, under confined blast loading. The geometry holes will be shown play a crucial role in plate. Numerical simulations successfully predict inelastic crack propagation observed experiments; and, it that venting does not alleviate peak pressure primary wave, but is effective attenuating secondary waves arising from multiple reverberations within test chamber. Pressure-venting ineffectual reducing maximum transient midpoint displacement due impulse saturation. path develops plate with was found stress triaxiality.
